(the) Occupational Safety and Health Administration

(the) Occupational Safety and Health Administration
a US government organization that protects the safety and health of workers. Its officers visit work places and can punish companies for bad standards. It also informs the public about possible risks at work, such as the use of dangerous materials. OSHA was set up in 1970 and is part of the US Department of Labor.
